The Infamous Megan Fox Manicure

The Infamous Megan Fox Manicure

You don’t need to blush, or do, if it matches your polish. Brittany Boyce and Megan Fox made no secret of the fact they were inspired by a Prince Albert piercing. Urban legend says that the prince himself had one. So, what is that?

According to Wikipedia (the safest way to research such a topic while at work), a Prince Albert piercing is located on the tip of the penis, right through the urethra. Apparently, we live a sheltered life and did not know this was actually fairly common.

Those who choose this type of piercing wear straight or curved barbells, a captive bead ring, a segment ring, or a Prince’s wand. The trick is to have just the right thickness and weight to avoid discomfort.

If you’re familiar with the Prince Albert piercing, do you think that Brittney Boyce represented it well with these nails?

How to do Prince Albert Nails

This isn’t the first time that Megan Fox has worn a studded manicure. Not long ago, she had red-tipped nails with silver ball studs and another time pierced nails. Her go-to artist, Brittney Boyce, shared this image of Megan’s most recent foray into trend-bending nail art. She described it with a single word, “Obsessed”. We aren’t certain if she meant the entire manicure, the vibrant color, the nail jewelry, or the original source of the inspiration.

In an interview with Allure, Brittney explained that the plan was to create something new for summer that was “cute and cool”. The first step was to change the shape from almond nails to medium-length soft gel coffin tips for a bit of an edge.

Next, she airbrushed the two-tone pink aura design. Although the center color is bright, the subtle gradient softens the look.

But it’s the double chrome studs that hint at the fact that there’s something more going on. She fixed them in place with builder gel in the bottle, then finished with a glossy top coat.

Pierced Nails are a Trend for Pros to Watch

Pierced Nails are a Trend for Pros to Watch

Pierced nails aren’t a new invention, but they keep coming back into the spotlight. Anyone who’s enthusiastic about nail art would do well to learn the basics. The good news is that piercing nails might sound intense, but unlike other types of piercing, this one comes with zero pain and all of the pleasure of turning heads.

The article in Allure goes on to mention Chapelle Roan’s fashion week style with studded soap nails reminiscent of nipple piercings. Although pierced nails aren’t technically body modification, they will still make people look twice!

Other Taboo Topics for Nail Art

Other Taboo Topics for Nail Art

Do you remember the pink hats that protesters wore in the Women’s March on Washington? The cute design and bright colors were captivating all by themselves, just like these pink heart nails. But of course, there was a strong message for women’s rights hidden in plain sight. There’s an art to taking everyday things and turning them into symbols of something more. Let’s talk about other taboo topics for manicures.

Nail Art to Raise Eyebrows Because Taboo is the New Trendy

Nail Art to Raise Eyebrows Because Taboo is the New Trendy

Here’s a quick glance back at the history of nail art that used to be taboo but has now become fashionable.

Let’s begin with nail piercings. A couple decades back, pierced nails were for punks and goths. Now Megan Fox and many other celebrities, not to mention teenagers and their mothers wear them, too. It’s no longer considered to be rebellious, especially when anyone can safely pierce soft gel tips and not harm their natural nails. (We highly recommend NOT piercing natural nails).

Or we can look at super long nails like Cynthia Erivo or certain influencers have worn. Although nail extensions haven’t caught on in every culture, partly due to cost, they are very common in Western society. Although some may classify them as “impractical”, they aren’t looked down on like they were in the past. It’s incredibly easy to glue on a set of tips or build them with poly gel, then enjoy a larger canvas for nail art.

Black polish was once a subculture fashion choice for the rebellious at heart. Now fashion editorials in high-end magazines feature all-black nails. Even claw nails and fetish-inspired finishes like fishnet or spikes are now considered fashion-forward.

Let’s not forget about topics that would otherwise be NFSW like marijuana nails or colorful language spelled out across fingertips. They push the boundaries by highlighting what used to be discussed in whispers. Plus, there are all sorts of glam examples right on Instagram.

The Art of Making People Blush with Nail Art

What makes us blush? Despite all the emotions we share with animals, blushing is uniquely human. We are the species that gets embarrassed. Sometimes it’s because we are uncomfortable with the attention we are receiving. Other times, it’s that we are ashamed of our mistakes or our appearance. We might even blush when we feel awkward about someone else’s situation.

If you’re an artist that enjoys provoking reactions with nail art, you know that the right design can shock, surprise, delight, and even make someone blush. It might be as simple as a cheeky pop-culture reference to Prince Albert piercings, but it catches the eye and sparks conversation. The art of making people blush lies in the balance between charm and boldness, like knowing just how far to push the design to turn heads but not cross the line. When you find that balance of humor, beauty, and edge, prepare for your design to go viral!
